Don Guanella Center is owned and operated by the Daughters of St. Mary of Providence The Center was opened in 1982. The Sisters have provided services to the developmentally disabled for over 100 years and are known for their experience and compassionate care.
Abiding with the requirements and standards of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, our facility undergoes regular inspections in order to maintain a license to operate. The Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) performed an inspection of our facility and awarded Don Guanella Center a two-year certification with distinction-the highest certificate available in MA.
Our Center has eight individual rooms, each adaptable to an individual’s needs. Through the assistance of our staff, residents are encouraged to use their individual skills to promote their independence during their stay. Individuals are enrolled in community day programs and attend them almost daily. Services are provided in conjunction with DDS.
Recreational, social and leisure activities are all a part of each day at The Center. In-house arts and crafts, table games, music, dancing, videos, cable TV and times of quiet relaxation provide for a variety of tastes and desires of our residents. Additionally, community activities such as movies, bowling, shopping trips and special events are possible at Don Guanella Center.
